SMS Terms
Last updated: August 2026
These terms describe the Ask Health text messaging (SMS) program: who sends the messages, what they are about, how to join, how to leave, and how we handle your mobile number. Please read them before you agree to receive text messages from us.
Who sends the messages
The program is operated by Ask Health. Every message identifies Ask Health as the sender. We do not text you on behalf of any other company, and we do not send you anyone else's advertising.
Where a message relates to your care, it is sent by, or on behalf of, the clinicians of the independent medical practice described under About Ask Health below. Scheduling, records and general support messages are sent by Ask Health administrative staff.
Ask Health supports hospitals, post-acute care facilities, patients and family caregivers with a combination of in-person specialty clinicians and digital monitoring. Text messaging is one of the ways we keep people informed between visits.
What we send text messages about
If you opt in, you may receive text messages such as:
- Appointment scheduling and reminders — requests to schedule or reschedule, appointment confirmations, reminders before a visit, and notices if a visit time or location changes.
- Care coordination updates — for example, letting you know that a clinician visit has been arranged, that a member of the care team will be contacting you, or that a follow-up needs to be booked.
- Replies to an inquiry you sent us — responses to a message you sent through the Ask Health contact form, by phone, or by email.
- Patient and customer support — help with paperwork, records requests, referrals, directions to one of our practice locations, and answers to general, non-clinical questions.
We do not send promotional or marketing text messages through this program.
How to opt in
You join the program by checking the separate SMS consent checkbox on the Ask Health contact form at ask-health.net/contact.html and giving us your mobile number.
- The SMS consent checkbox is unchecked by default. It is never pre-selected, and you must check it yourself.
- It is separate from the box used to accept our Terms and Privacy Policy. Consent to text messages is never bundled with any other agreement.
- It is optional. You can submit the form, book a visit and receive care without checking it.
- Our Privacy Policy and these Text Messaging Terms are linked next to the phone number field and the SMS consent checkbox, so you can read both before you agree.
The consent language on that form reads:
“I agree to receive recurring SMS/text messages from Ask Health at the mobile number I provided. Messages may include appointment scheduling, confirmations and reminders, care coordination updates, replies to my inquiry, and patient support. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to cancel, HELP for help. Consent is not a condition of purchase or of receiving care or any other service.”
After you opt in, we may send you one message confirming that you are subscribed.
Where your number comes from
We take consent only from the person who enters the number on the form or gives it to us directly. We do not buy, rent, import or accept mobile numbers from lead generators, list brokers or any other third party, and we do not add a number to this program because someone else supplied it.
Consent is never a condition of care or of any purchase
Agreeing to receive text messages is entirely optional. You will receive the same care, the same services and the same response to your inquiry whether or not you consent to text messages. We will never require SMS consent as a condition of purchase, scheduling, treatment or any other service. If you prefer, we will contact you by phone or email instead.
Message frequency
Message frequency varies. How many messages you receive depends on your situation — for example, how many appointments you have scheduled and whether you have an open inquiry with us. Some weeks you may receive none.
Cost
Message and data rates may apply. Ask Health does not charge you for these messages, but your mobile carrier may charge you for sending or receiving them, depending on your plan. Please check with your carrier if you are unsure.
How to stop messages (opt out)
Reply STOP to any message from us to cancel. You can send STOP at any time, to any message in the program. The standard opt-out words — STOP, END, QUIT, CANCEL and UNSUBSCRIBE — are all honored.
- You will receive a single confirmation message letting you know that you have been unsubscribed.
- After that confirmation, we will not send you any further text messages in this program.
- You can also ask us to remove your number by calling (551) 277-4441 or emailing support@askhealth.org.
If you change your mind
You can rejoin at any time by checking the SMS consent box again on the contact form at ask-health.net/contact.html, or by asking our team to send you a new opt-in request.
Opting out of text messages does not cancel your appointments, does not affect your care, and does not stop us from contacting you by phone, email or mail where that is needed.
How to get help
You can reach us in any of these ways:
- Reply HELP to any message from us. We will reply with the program name (Ask Health), how to contact us, and a reminder that message and data rates may apply.
- Call (551) 277-4441.
- Email support@askhealth.org.
Carriers and message delivery
Whether a message reaches you depends on your wireless carrier, your plan and your device. Carrier support can change over time, and not every carrier or plan supports this program.
Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery is not guaranteed. Messages may be delayed or fail to arrive because of network conditions, coverage, device settings or carrier filtering. Because of this, never rely on a text message as your only way of receiving important information, and never assume we have received a message you sent.
Your mobile information is never sold or shared for marketing
Mobile information and phone numbers collected for the Ask Health text messaging program are never sold, rented, leased, traded or shared with third parties or lead generators for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third party.
This covers your mobile number, your consent status and the content of your text messages with us.
We use your mobile number only to operate this messaging program and to communicate with you as described above. The only parties we share it with are the service providers that deliver the messages for us, and only so that they can deliver them. We require those providers to use your information solely to provide that service and never for their own or anyone else's marketing. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
Our Privacy Policy explains in full what we collect and how we use it, and it carries this same commitment about mobile information. The Privacy Policy and these Text Messaging Terms are both linked on the contact form, beside the phone number field and the SMS consent checkbox.
Text messaging is not a secure channel
Text messages and email travel over networks we do not control and are not encrypted end to end. Anyone with access to your phone can read them.
- Please do not send sensitive clinical details, test results, diagnoses, medication lists, insurance identifiers or other private health information by text. If we need that information, we will arrange a secure way to collect it.
- Our text messages are kept general on purpose. We will not include detailed clinical information in a text.
- Text messages to us are not monitored around the clock, and a reply is not guaranteed within any particular time.
If you would rather we did not use text at all, tell us and we will contact you another way.
Never use text messaging for an emergency
If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency department immediately. Do not text us, do not email us, and do not use the website contact form.
Text messages, email and the website contact form are not for clinical advice, urgent symptoms, medication changes or anything time-critical. Nothing sent through this messaging program is a substitute for evaluation by a clinician. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or call 911.
Who can sign up
To opt in, you must:
- Be 18 years of age or older; and
- Be the account holder of the mobile number you provide, or be authorized by the account holder to consent to messages at that number.
Please do not enter someone else's mobile number unless you are authorized to consent on their behalf. If a number is no longer yours, or you gave us a number in error, tell us right away by replying STOP, calling (551) 277-4441 or emailing support@askhealth.org so that we can remove it.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Text Messaging Terms from time to time. The current version is always posted on this page, and the “Last updated” date at the top will change. If we make a significant change to how the program works, we will make that clear before it takes effect.
